          • Not sure I ever gave some of these older bands enough credit or even much of a listen. Didn't realize just how good some of them were. Friend of mine had a bunch of pink flyod and led zeplin playing and I have to admit.. I like some of this shit.

            • You don't give most real music enough of a chance. Too wrapped up in fake digital shit. Respect for starting to wake up.

I get your point and respect it. BUT. The reverse argument is.. you dont give the "fake digital music" any chance because you are to set in your ways and resistant to change. The trait of an OLD person.

Ah my friend, you couldn't be more wrong. I enjoy all types of music. Even the digital age. If it sounds good, it sounds good. I've never not listened to something because of how it was created. I do however have a different level of respect for the artist if they write their own music and play their own instruments.

                    Cant argue with that.

                        This.

Listening to quite a bit of delta blues lately. That's some good stuff.... Lots of acoustic slide guitar. It is always nice to hear the original stuff that Zeppelin and Clapton ripped off.

                        • I'm going to try and start getting a feel for what you can enjoy/appreciate. When I get the time I will throw up some stuff I think is outside your daily listening. All I ask is you take the few minutes and give them a fair chance.

Here is a catchy one by The Tragically Hip; an older Canadian band that have great lyrics and like to tell stories with their songs. They have a lot of good stuff.

I will give anything a listen bro. I'm not all that close minded believe it or not.

I can tell you though that song you posted just doesn't do anything for me. I keep going back to that "feel" of music. Lyrics can be great but if it doesn't sound a certain way or give me a certain emotion I just get nothing from it.

                            • It's interesting that you say "feel" all the time. It's definitely a relative term because a large majority of the music you post has zero emotional "feel" to me. Talyor Swift's 'Trouble' is a prime example. The song I posted actually gives me an emotional response simply by the guitar riffs.

That is why I posted that one. I am trying to get a feel and understand exactly what you mean by "feel". Lyrical content backed by solid instrumental arrangements is what makes me respond at an emotional level.

That's why they call it personal taste. Your life experience and things you have gone through are different then anyone else and vice versa. The taylor swift trouble song has a specific meaning to me, especially at the time I posted it.

The rap stuff is specifically gym type music that gets me pumped up, not necessarily "emotional" like some of the other stuff.
