An effective teacher is one who can connect with the students and make them understand that what they are there for is important an is applicable to their futures.
In college my favorite class was advanced accounting 410. Many would say, WTF advanced accounting... but the teacher made the class so much fun, i believe attendance in that class was 100% every week. How? Well the whole class was built around the game Monopoly, we split up into groups of 4 at the beggining of class and just played monopoly every session. Each session equaled 1 month in your company's fiscal year. For homework you had to put together financial statements and write strategy reports. At the end of the semester those whole earned the most cash got to keep their groups Monopoly board. Was the greatest class.
