  • Lifetime Fitness - Platinum Club

So an new Lifetime Fitness opened up in my metro area and it's one of the Platinum facilities. I was blown away at all the stuff they have available at this gym. At a price, of course... The place is amazing, 3 pools, 2 waterlsides, endless amounts of machines, weights and cardio equipment. A poolside cafe. Yogo studio, saunas, spas. A Starbucks like cafe with over-priced food and smoothies. I was blown away by everything that I could do under one roof that was fitness/health related. And then comes the price.

    $139 a month per member.

I guess for the amount of things available and the quality of this place that "kinda" seems fair but just too rich for my blood.

Give me some free weights, dumbbells, a few machines and water fountain and I'm pretty much good to go. That, and be convenient. This particular location was a good 5 miles away from my house and not in a good spot to fit my commute/daily routine.

Thoughts???? I just couldn't justify that price and location.
I know it's more of a "health club" than just a gym... was wondering if anyone else has been to one of these and coughed up the monthly cash flow.

I think $139 is ridiculous. I have a brand new health "club" here, with pool (no waterslide, but I'll be damned if I'd ever slide at the gym!), steam rooms, sauna, whirlpool, smoothie/breakfast/lunch cafe, the whole 9. It's $50 a month.

Rado would join. $139 a month is what he pays for 1 of the 8 cell phones he has.

hated that gym, friend used his guest pass on me and i didn't like the environment. Don't get me wrong, seeing half naked chicks walking around was amazing, but not my sort of place. On top of that i was doing incline DB chest press with 100lbs DB in each hand, half the people stopped training and decided to stare at me. Didn't like that.
