If we were really interested in responding to 9/11, we would have gone in, cleaned out Tora Bora, got Bin Laden and got out. We would have never gone to Iraq.
Also, we need to honestly ask ourselves what the root cause of 9/11 was. It is an emotional topic and one that nobody wants to face. Every time the question comes up, the response is "What, we are blaming the victims who died that day?" Of course, nobody deserved to die, but the seeds for 9/11 have been planted years ago with us (along with Britain and others) constantly dicking around in the Middle East.
Tell me this - how come we and Britain and France and some of these countries are the ones who are constantly under threat of being attacked? Could it have to do with our legacy of either colonialism (Britain and France) or tendency to constantly interfere in the internal affairs of others (the US)?Comment

whats funny about these threads is that you can clearly see the demographics of where people are from.
the north largely agrees with most of the world in how we view the wars and how the country is run in general. the south buys 100% into the "fight for our freedom" line.

Not condoning with the terrorists did here on 9/11, but anyone who believes that our prior actions had nothing whatsoever to trigger the kind of resentment that culminated in 9/11 is not being honest with themselves.
The US has had a long and sordid history of propping up brutal dictators in the Middle East. That's no way to engender ourselves to the populace in these countries, that are totally disenfranchised.
Trust me, I was born in Asia and spent many years there growing up and visiting. The attacks had nothing whatsoever to do with them not liking "our way of life". Believe me bro, Asians love our way of life. They would do anything to have the kind of prosperity and freedom that our way of life provides. They are upset that our government sides with their corrupt leaders and prevents this from happening in their own countries.
Every time I hear this garbage about them attacking us because they don't like our way of life, it pisses me off. It is exactly the opposite of what the people there want.Comment

When troops say we are defending freedom..what they mean is they are standing ready to serve in the service train to fight to protect and serve our countrys best intrests and fight where called to do just that. You cant blame the soldiers for the fucked up policys of our goverments decisions.They are but pawns in the big picture. I know as I was a pawn for 20 years. Why have a strong military.. comon, just look at human history man has been destroying each other from the beginning of time. Pure greed drives mankind it always had. Do you honestly think our country would not have been taken over for its riches by now had we not had a strong military? If you do you are a fool. The norway example is not a good one... anyone care to explane the countrys riches to me that would be worth taking the country over for? They dont have any so, they are neutral that along with not much in the forms of riches to take keeps them safe.
One of the biggest things that have us on the "bad side" of the arab world IMHO is
#1 we support the state of Jerusalem in its current form, All the arabs hate that.They dispise that the jews have a state and that land was taken away from the palistanians. If you support that... your done as far as most muslums are concerned PERIOD our country does britian france ect they all do so they are targets.
#2 Because of our influance over and in a lot of the big oil produceing countries over there.Our goverment buys their oil so we can have a military force in those areas..to "protect it" I personelly think we should drill our own and keep it in our own country to use no selling it period!!... fuck buying thiers and defending it too. But someone has the "masterplan" all worked out in higher goverment...I'll be damned if I know what it is....
