  • Lance Armstrong Will Be Stripped of Medals

"After more than a decade of outrunning accusations that he had doped during his celebrated cycling career, Lance Armstrong, one of the most well-known and accomplished athletes in history, finally surrendered on Thursday, etching a dark mark on his legacy by ending his fight against charges that he used performance-enhancing drugs."

“There comes a point in every man’s life when he has to say, ‘Enough is enough,’” Armstrong said in a statement. “For me, that time is now.”

"Armstrong’s decision, according to the World Anti-Doping Code, means he will be stripped of his seven Tour titles, the bronze medal he won at the 2000 Olympics and all other titles, awards and money he won from August 1998 forward. It also means he will be barred for life from competing, coaching or having any official role with any Olympic sport or other sport that follows the World Anti-Doping Code."

          Only evidence is hearsay.

So tired of people being concerned with athletes using PEDs, sports would SUCK if everyone was just some regular fucking joe and not striving to improve themselves, physically and chemically. I think the general public believes that taking PEDs allow you to just sit and home and slack off, not train, etc. Couldn't be further from the truth. Everyone participating in those 7 TDFs know who won, and the majority of those fuckers were using just as much drugs.

I would be tired of fighting if I was him as well.

Just the mental toll on yourself and family is good reason to stop fighting. His blood and urine tests have always come back negative, accusations from a third party "witness" really shouldn't matter when you are passing the test designed to catch "cheating".

The tests are man made, and there will always be man made ways to beat the test, but he passed the test required of him.

Yep I do believe hes just tired of the shit year after year. Can't say I blame him. Im sure he has done something just like all of um have or do. But as stated he has always come up negitive and been cleared...how many times and how many orginazations does a guy have to defend himself against before it finally stops. He found a way to stop it. It just sucks it ends this way for him. I personally always rooted for ol' Lance.

Not saying he is clean, but there is ZERO evidence, only hearsay. What happened to habeas corpus? I can't deal with these agencies that appoint themselves judge, jury and executioner, answerable to nobody. Produce the proof publicly, otherwise STFU and leave him alone.

no way he should be striped if they have no evidence and he hasn't admitting anything.

                        good for nike!

PORTLAND -- Nike is standing by Lance Armstrong after the U.S Anti-Doping Agency said it will strip his seven Tour de France titles and ban him from professional cycling.

In a statement released Friday the company said:

We are saddened that Lance Armstrong may no longer be able to participate in certain competitions and his titles appear to be impacted. Lance has stated his innocence and has been unwavering on this position. Nike plans to continue to support Lance and the Lance Armstrong Foundation, a foundation that Lance created to serve cancer survivors.

Armstrong, who retired last year, declined to enter USADA’s arbitration process—his last option—because he said he was weary of fighting accusations that have dogged him for years.

                          :clapback:

I read that Armstrong's foundation typically takes in about $3K in donations every day but on Friday, the day after the story broke, it took in $78K lmao.....

Which foundation? I find it kind of shady that a life strong non profit exists and a live strong for profit exists as well. I think the average consumer believes that life strong is just a non profit org.
