Agreed. Doesn't matter what decade it is, people still judge others by appearance. Period.
-
Whether it's right or it's wrong, if you think people don't still judge tattoos, you are highly mistaken. Yes, they are "socially acceptable" now days, but that still means nothing. Sure, you might find companies that don't care, but to go in thinking tattoos are the complete norm now, is far off.

Colossus, I'm not justifying it bro. I couldn't care less, I work in the hi-tech field where we have people, from a hundred countries working and the only things that count are your brains and your work ethic. But that's not the way it is everywhere as you surely know, least of all in sales.

Lets just say I win and call it a day :thumup:Originally posted by THE BOUNCER View Posti agree with your point colossus. people that judge based on looks alone are small minded.
BUT. that is the real world bro, potential employers WILL judge. you may be lucky to find someone who doesnt care about the tats but you might not.

I agree with that as well. When i got my neck blasted I was kind of upset thinking how am I supposed to get a job now, but then i remembered I am a barber! :weights:Originally posted by THE BOUNCER View Postnot saying you cant have a good job or it means your stupid. just saying it puts up potential roadblocks.
Actually going to start working at a loan office in the near future and if need be I will buy fake skin or cover up make up made specifically for these situations but i doubt it will come to that. The people at this office are very laid back. I am going to have to do something about my plugs though:mad:

Well then that is your opinion and of course you are entitled to one just as everyone else is. I still think you are being a bit narrow minded and that is MHO. I do agree that tattoo's, to some, might give off that feeling of unprofessionalism, but I believe that those people are also very conservative, narrow minded people with the idea of tattoos being a stigma instead of a form of art.Originally posted by Scrumhalf View PostApple's and oranges, IMO. And right or wrong, IMO tattoos convey an aura of non-professionalism that I think will be a liability in certain fields.
There are exception though, of course, like gang tattoos or seriously sinister looking tattoos.
Now I am done with this debate because, Scrum, i know you were probably on the debate team in all of high school through college or some shit :weights:

Dont let ignorance and things you dont fully understand get the best of you. This guy looks pretty professional to me. And if need be I will wear a long sleeve to work if I have to because I love putting my art on my body.
Scrum, you'd be surprised how many people are very acceptant of people that are all tatted up. Is it just me who is seeing this or is it just a west coast/so cal thing?
heres another for those who think tattoos turn to shit when you get older

BAD ASS

If you are working in sales and have a back tattoo, no big deal. But if you are doing a sleeve down to the wrist, I can guarantee that's going to force you to wear a long sleeved shirt when you meet your clients. And what if you have to meet the client socially, say over golf or whatever? Do what you must, but don't pretend that it won't impact your professional career in some way, unless you are a sales rep for tattoo equipment.

Every time I think about getting a tattoo I think about not seeing muscle definition and that stops me on my tracks. :D
