The technological civilization we have created has extended our life expectancy and survival rates, abms is dependent on such a dissproportionate sapping of natural rescources that we have created a problem that didn't previousely exist.Comment

One of the problems I can see is that the human race is not keeping touch with its advances in technology.
As you say we are curing all kinds of diseases, increasing longevity etc, not to mention the ability to travel to other planets and so on.
But we as a whole are still cavemen, we rape and murder children, beat old people for a few quid to buy drugs or just because we can. Ok, these may be the minority, but they will have there own offspring to continue in their ways.
We know the damage we are doing to the environment but we continue to destroy the rain forests for wood or to replace them with palm plantations, then put samples of the animals we are pushing to extinction into zoos.
Until we can evolve our technological breakthroughs are beyond what we probably deserve.Comment
