Bro, downtown Phoenix may be a shithole but Scottsdale is a paradise. Fountain Hills, etc.. is also great.

Frankly I didn't see the big deal with Scottsdale when I lived there. Yes, it's got resort after resort and it's pretty and great if you loved golf, but I still think Arizona gets so much nicer if you get north or east/northeast of Phoenix - either Sedona/Flagstaff, or Tucson or Show Low, Pinetop and Mogollon Rim areas.
