I don't doubt cops do things they shouldn't, or don't do things they should. But in their defense, if someone is trying to escape, fight, whatever, they are allowed to use tasers, mace, etc. You guys use pepper spray - IMO, the same thing could have happened using that. She starts running, she gets sprayed, she falls down and bumps her head. It's unfortunate, yes, but she already had suspended license, drugs, etc. She wasn't just doing something "wild".

Fact is there are countless examples of abuse by US cops, they get shit pay, have a tone of shit to deal with but they do act like gangs of thugs often and only some of this is caught on tape, from the recent vid I posted of Miami cops beating a homeless guy to death on the floor while he called out for his mum to tens of others I won't post. Your cops are out of control and only some of it gets caught on tape.

I will agree with that as well. Pretty much every cop I know is a turd in some way - they are all so full of themselves, shady, run around on their wives, etc etc. Obviously not ALL cops are that way, but the stigma is there for the most part - cops think they are badasses. I don't know what can be done to change all that, but I guess you're right, until the pay is better and they can require more of someone, it will remain the same.

Nothing for the US to be proud of in this respect - excessive force is a way of life here I think for cops. I have always looked upon the English with admiration in this regard. Very cultured, well behaved, and the image of the unarmed bobby epitomized that. It is sad that England is changing to look more like other parts of the world. Looks like the Japanese would be the only society worth emulating soon and that is unfortunate.

i have always said, they know their cars, racing, and make good tv shows. absolutely nothing else though. horrible genetics, ugly women, horrible food, and just an overall pussification and gayness to the whole once great island. lowly inbred islanders.

I'm glad regular police aren't armed with guns

We have so few guns in circulation in the UK that armed police are rarely required.

I do joke about our police, but they confront armed arseholes with a stick and some spray - they have balls. Yes some are tossers but they are human.

I'm all for zero tolerance and perhaps if fucked up human rights didnt get in the way they could do their jobs.

Takes real balls to attend a crime scene unarmed without knowing who or what is waiting for you.

I certainly wouldn't do it. But again, I guess that's because I live hearing all our horror stories in the news. A persons life holds little value to far too many people.

I've been there numerous times, so can I talk shit about the dentists or the weather?!

The food is far better than I ever imagined it could be. Guess that's one of the good things about colonizing all over the world--get some decent ethnic cuisine...but I love some of the native stuff, too. Couldn't eat it every day, but a midday visit to the chippy or a good pie or sausage is hard to beat.
