Boy do I love my dumb bell presses, but last night i almost had an accident at the gym that could have cost me my arm (shoulder).
I was working my way up in weight. Warmed up light then proceeded up to my final set of 6-8 with the 100's ( I remember when i use to be able to do 100's+ easy, i know it dont sound like much to some but for me it was great). So I am workin my last set when i let the dumb bell slip a little bit too far past 90 degrees ( i dont let my arms pass 90 cause of previous shoulder injuries). I swear if i didnt drop the weight i would have retorn my pec tendon. Scared the shit out of me. So From then on i did only machine and cable work. You think It's a good idea to give up the free weights?
Of course for arms and shoulder i have no problem. But when it comes to chest (DB press, bench) or back ( deads, squats, etc.) I am fuckin scared of getting injured. I feel like I am more prone to it. What do you guys think? Or should i just move up the reps and cut the weight?
Funny side note: I go to 24. its right across the street. sooo lots of douche bags. but i went at a later time cause I didnt want it to be packed (still was)... Anyways There was this big guy. Probably around my age. He was BIG like over 6'5" easy, big arms but I guessed him to be at 12-14% bf. I swear this guy kept looking at me during my workouts, while he was doing his work outs ( of course he too was doing chest) so he was pullin out the 120s. Just think its funny that here I am about 165 and he is trying to compete with me in weight while he is easily over 220lbs.
Whenver big guys do that with me i just take off my jacket or sweater and show him the small guy he is competing with :weights:
