Yes. You have to realize that he was also a child when this happened. We see him as a 27 year old killer, but he was only 13 at the time. Clearly something was wrong with him, as well.

We were all 13 once, I dont recall wanting to do this to a helpless child. We can make excuses all day long but the victim here was the 8 year old.

What caused/created this 13 year old pervert is another question, but lets deal with what we know.
