    TCL 55" Class 1080p 240Hz Back-lit LED LCD HDTV LE55FHDF3300Z

    Element 60" Class 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV ELDFC601JA

getting my mom a TV for Xmas and i know you guys know your electronics. are any of these better than the others or is there a different one in same price range I should get.
i figure 1000 is all I will spend unless you guys say oh this for 1100 is way better.

the second one i posted has 240Hz I think that is speed of motion correct is that way better or Ill never know type stuff?

Your mother (or anyone else for that matter) will not see the difference between 120 and 240. With that said, with your choices go Vizio. The others are no name knock offs and Vizio offers good bang for your buck.

I have at least heard of Vizio, never heard of the other two.

240 Hz does nothing unless you have a 3D tv.

I think I am getting a TLC off of Amazon, they receive pretty good reviews.

I have owned a Vizio, no complaints. Your mom would appreciate either one.

I got a new bedroom TV the other day. We saw that Element brand. Had Vizio, it didn't last very long (3 or 4 years).

Will a 42" not work? I would get a sharp, sony, sammy and call it a day.

Go with samsung if you can. Sony is over priced and sharp is over rated.

yea sony's day is done. as a company they have just become irrelevant.

i find LG to be the best quality/good price but then again i have 3 of them so i might be biased. lol.

Im not overly impressed with lg. As a matter of fact the higher end vizios are comparable, imo.

I love my sharp for picture quality but the sammys look cleaner in terms of physical appearance, the image quality is better with less tweaking and the interfaces are more functional and up to date, imo.

i find samsung to be heavy on artificial sharpness and color. they standout in a bright lit store but look fake at home.

Sharp is like that with color. Especially with the "4th color" horseshit. The yellow is overpowering making greens and golds look artificial as well. The capabilities are there but you do have to spend a great deal of time dialing it in.
