news today a nine week old baby was bitten by a little jack russell.while visiting grand parents, and is dead.

To me this proves beyond doubt that dogs cannot be trusted around vulnerable humans ie that they can over power.

should it be illegal for people to leave dogs around vulnerable people

If it is a dog that cannot be trusted, hell no don't leave it around a baby. Responsible dog owners know if their dog is a potential threat. The people should be held responsible for whatever happens. And if they're not the dog owner than they surely should not assume it's harmless and leave a defenseless infant in reach. The majority of these horror stories are completely preventable. It's negligence and ignorance that allows it to happen.

totally agree, the thing that stands out about this one is that jack russels are tiny although know to bee snappy, particularly as they get old

Tragic. But bottom line is that you don't let a 9 week baby out of your sight at any time. Baby at that age is pretty helpless and can die of a dozen different things, so it has to be at arms length or at the very least in visual line of sight at all times.

my dog has bit 5 people in this year alone. I live on private property with no trespassing signs everywhere. 1 dude I told him she will bite you don't bother her and put her outside while he was there. went to take piss I hear hey girl you a good puppy then I heard him yelling she got him pretty bad. I live on street with only 3 houses people cut through my yard and the people living behind me for short cuts knowing its private property. if she is outside and someone comes through doesn't see her they get it. Now on the other hand she got lose and went roaming.g around the strip mall across the road never bothered anyone. a friend that work's at beef o Brady's seen.her called me said I.just seen your dog out running lose. I put her out. a good hour before I noticed she was gone she bit not one person. most would put her to sleep never in a million years. she guards her property. and don't even get near my daughter she got off her chain once when my friend was playing w my daughter swinging her around. Dogs are bred to do what we bred them to do. Now a Jack Russell biting a kid that's not normal. Ida shot it bit my kid.
