Guys, when you are deleting spam or banning spammers please be more careful and make sure you are clicking on the correct name to ban.

Scrum I know you mentioned awhile back that you accidentally deleted some threads while deleting spam, not sure if this is sort of that same thing or not.

No bro, guys I have banned are the ones who post the Japanese threads and Louis Vouitton handbags and stuff. Pretty sure I didn't do it.

At first I thought, wtf did i miss?? But if it was done intentionally I am sure one of you guys would have let me know or I would at least see a thread where he did something wrong. Only other thing I can think of is it was done as a joke sort of like rocket did to rado awhile back. If that is the case please dont do that again. It creates a headache for me.

My best guess though is that it was done by accident when there was a bunch of spammers and spam posts and someone clicked the ban button on him.

He is not banned anymore, I am just glad I happened to see banned under his name in one of the threads.

I've been thinking about what happened, and I think I know.

I have been using forum runner almost exclusively to monitor the board and what happened was probably a quirk of Forum Runner.

If a thread is started by a spammer, I have the choice of deleting the entire thread and also banning the spammer at the same time. It is tremendously useful, as I don't have to do this in two steps. The thread disappears, the spammer is banned and all is well.

But I think that works perfectly ONLY if the spammer is the only person posting on his own thread. 99.99% of the time, this is the case, as nobody responds to the spam thread. I remember a thread either yesterday or day before yesterday where the spammer started the thread and the 2nd post was from Mr. I on the thread responding to the spammer.

I am assuming that Forum Runner decided that if I was going to delete a spam thread and ban the perp, EVERYONE who posted AFTER the spammer was also somehow part of the scam. As I said, in every other case, this is never a problem. Either the spammer is the last person posting on an existing thread, in which case I just delete the post and ban the spammer, or the spammer starts a new thread and his post is the only one in it. I suspect that in this case, Forum Runner decided that Mr. I was also part of the spammer network.

I'll watch out for this in the future - not sure if this was what happened, but that was the only unusual thing that happened, so perhaps it had something to do with it.

In the meantime Mr. I, don't respond to spammer threads.. :slap: :D

you may be right about the banning list but thats not the screen i use to ban or unbann. and since you are unbanned it would no longer say.

yes that is true this is what a normal mod sees but Bouncer has different view
