  • Deaf Twins Going Blind, Euthanized

I don't think I'd be ready to die at 45 just based on that! :x We can't even let people die that are writhing in pain and going to die inevitably.

I am not sure I agree FB.

These guys were already deaf and were about to go blind. If its there choice to do so then why not?

Can you imagine not being able to hear or see anything ever again??? I would want to die to. It would be hell on earth and you would feel completely alone and in the dark.

I didn't say they shouldn't have a choice. I just said I personally don't feel I'd be ready to die in 9 years, just based on the loss of two senses. It would be terrible, I'm sure, but to still be able to feel my childrens arms around me, or touch a loved one would certainly make it worth it.

It would take a lot of getting used to! I'm not sure I would be able to handle it, the feeling of being trapped would be overwhelming for me.

Exactly what my point was. But wtf does the pineal gland have anything to do with?! Your pineal secretes melatonin and regulates your sleep pattern/function.

Personal choice. We all have a right to our opinions but it should be their choice.

I dont think society should deny them the right to die if that is that is their choice, its quality of life not quantity.

yes i do understand that part. but what about all the times those people are not there? imagine how fucken alone and lost you would feel. just a world of darkness. i would need constant reassurance that someone is there protecting me. the feeling of helplessness would just be insane I would imagine.

Tough decision for sure, but living in Oregon which is one of only 3 states in the Union to have legal assisted suicide, I have watched this debate play out from up close. At the end of the day, I am firm believer that any adult sound in mind should be able to access doctor assisted suicide under carefully examined circumstances. There has to be dignity in life and death.
