Why is the board suddenly a spam magnet?

Serious question.

It's only getting worse, the past week I've seen two solid pages of nothing but spam at times.

Why now and why so bad?

Can't even post a lot of the time. It is out of control. Is there no way to control it?

That's silly. It has nothing to do with who is a mod. I haven't been posting a lot, but I can assure you I delete a crazy amount of spam all day, everyday.

Sometimes its on for hours at a time on multiple pages.

I use Forum Runner on my phone to check literally every 5 minutes or less 18 hours a day. No exaggeration. I doubt a single spam message stays up more than 3-5 minutes worst case. Most are gone in less than that.

Pretty much all the spam is coming out of China. There were only a handful of closely linked IPs when I checked a couple of days ago. We should just block the top level .cn domain and be done with it.. :D

It is possible, I can't vouch for every one I suppose. But I can tell you that Forum Runner makes it incredibly easy to manage spam. And I literally refresh the "Current Messages" button every couple of minutes all day long.

On the positive side, I now know where to go if I want an NFL jersey.. :D
