Ok guys, I am shutting down new user registration again. I will play around with new user registration settings and see if we cant slow some of this shit down. I apologize for all this bullshit.

You should add maybe a mod or two just for that if you can....

I am changing the registration process from the basic image where they need to enter the letters on screen to a question and answer. The questions and answer needs to be something that anyone interested in posting on a fitness/steroid type board would know but may confuse a bot or chinese spammer. Now I just need to think of a question. lol

Do something simple like display a number in funky OCR-unfriendly fonts like the sites usually do, but instead of having to type it in, have them subtract 7 from that number and type that in. You should be able to stump the bots that way.

I figure any human legitimatly comming to this site will either know the answer or be able to look it up very quickly. lets hope the spam bots arent programmed for that extra step. the majority of the spam is not human, just bots with a set of instructions.

thats captcha. we have had that setup for years. as for having them subtract, i dont know how to set that up. that would require programming and i dont have a clue. lets hope the question and aswer helps.

as i just said in the very post you quoted, they will either know it OR CAN LOOK IT UP VERY EASILY. the hope is, it wont confuse normal English speaking people interested in legitimately joining but will be confusing to bots or the Chinese programmers sending the bots.
