I don't think the name is really labeled anywhere, so I don't care anymore. You had to have one to sign up, though. I just used Run....or dye tryin'! That incorporates the color dye and the fact that we are certainly not marathon runners. :D

I am all about giving to our troops and veterans, but Wounded Warrior is a messed up "charity". I would do more digging into their organization before I supported them.

Few quick facts:

Sorry, but I have a problem when a "charity" is paying mega bucks to the people running it.

FYE 2010 Officer Salaries = $1,021,638

So here's the breakdown -
2008 - 64%
2009 - 62%
2010 - 65% of all expenses paid (out of CASH donated*) being used for veteran/wounded programs.

* Some of WWP's donations are "in kind" rather than cash - such as advertising time on radio and TV.

A+ charities should have 80% + going to programs. Even 75% would be better.

Just think what 10% more for programs could accomplish - we ALL owe it to our veterans to hold accountable the charities that we donate our money to.

When I'm feeling healthy, I just like to run, hence the 5k and tough mudder. But thanks for the info... So what are the others that are better to donate to? I think I've donated and gave enough, a little more won't hurt I guess...

Do you get sprayed with the color as you are running or after you finish? Sounds like a blast! Did you have a big spread at the finish to put back all the calories you burned training for the race? :)
