Ya, she is hot. And tough. That neck crank was no joke she got caught in. That transition to the armbar she has is so quick and so smooth, its like even if you know shes pulling it, you can't keep defending it. Very nice fight.
The whole main card was pretty good primarily because it was so surprising. To me, it showed the rebirth of some fighters. Lawler looked phenomenal at 170-like a new man, and I don't care what they say if that fight would have gone on longer he would have only punched Koscheck in the face more, he was done.
And I have to give props to Faber. I have viewed him as a one trick pony at his heavier weight class relying on takedowns and control with a bit of ground and pound, and minimal adaptability. He looked really, really good at this lighter weight. Faster, ground and pound looked very good, and I think he is actually going to be stronger than alot of guys.
Machida, god bless him, is the most boring fighter on the planet but you can't argue he's good. Henderson simply could not catch him enough, although I honestly thought it could have gone either way. Great card considering.

The crank wasn't set in well even the commentators talked about it, and this is Rhonda you're talking about. That bitch in the ring is a fucking man. She will rip you apart. That armbar is sick no doubt. We all have moves that transition over well like nothing. My favorite move I always get is the ezekiel and arm choke.Originally posted by funniirishman View PostYa, she is hot. And tough. That neck crank was no joke she got caught in. Faber is looking better.
Machida has always been great to watch, boring? Eh...They guy is just a counter and has so many different styles that you can't keep up with. IMO he's probably one of the most humblest fighters along with silva and gsp...much respect for guys like that....No ego at all.

Just watched the card again for giggles, couldn't sleep. Rousey is definitely no joke. She's been training at an elite level since she got outta potty training lol. Hard to deny that talent, or more importantly the fortitude to train at that level in the transition to MMA. I was very surprised Carmouche took her back and was able to set it at all. That quickly went away when Rousey shook her off like a rag doll lol. THere really isn't a real fight out there for her in my opinion--maybe Santos, its the only one interesting because of the hype.
Machida seems to be a very noble, respectful guy, and thats definitely refreshing...but elusive, counter fighters can be tough to watch over and over...and in that fight Henderson seemed to be moving in slow motion-Machida makes alot of guys look that way though...I just kinda wonder if he still has a run in him or if he's a marquee matchup guy now.

I don't really follow MMA but I did read a long article about Machida in ESPN magazine a few years ago. Great article, and noble is a perfect way to describe how Machida came across. I think it must be his Japanese heritage coming through.

IMO she will be the next Anderson Silva....I can't think of another female out there that can hang with her...The only thing I see her getting fucked up with, is having a fighter who will have TREMENDOUS defense in the take down and just jab her to death.Originally posted by funniirishman View PostJust watched the card again for giggles, couldn't sleep. Machida IMO is what a true MMA person should be. Win or loss, he takes it well, learns from it and moves on and ALWAYS respects his opponents; no bad blood. I love seeing him fight.

Her submission skills are impressive, but she ruins herself IMO by her constant pro-wrestling-style trash-talking. She's making a mockery of herself and is probably more well-known in the mainstream because of her media-savvy trash-talk. In that sense she's kinda talking herself into becoming the female version of Chael Sonnen, albeit with superior sub skills! (Maybe Josh Barnett - great sub skills but a big mouth) .... Talented, but annoying as hell. Too bad Cyborg got caught juicing as I still think she'd be too much for Rousey. Rhonda really hasn't fought a poweful opponent; she's always the bigger, stronger fighter, so she's able to bully. Wouldn't be the case at 145.

So funny you mentioned Sonnen. That is exactly who she reminds me of in the media spotlight.Originally posted by dylanpumped View PostHer submission skills are impressive, but she ruins herself IMO by her constant pro-wrestling-style trash-talking. Speaking of Sonnen, despite how much I detest his media presence, he is the best coach I've witnessed on the ultimate fighter. He doesn't bash the other coach, trains right along his fighters, never trash talks the opposing teams fighters. Just really positive and involved like a coach should be.

Good for him. I don't watch TUF, but I'd never have expected Sonnen to be as described.Originally posted by blm View PostSpeaking of Sonnen, despite how much I detest his media presence, he is the best coach I've witnessed on the ultimate fighter. I remember Rashad was quite likeable as a coach, compared to RAmpage at least! Never really understood the Rashad-hating. I mean, he trash talks, sure (which I can't stand), but it's kinda clear that it's fake and not really who he is. For some folks, such as Sonnen or Rousey, trash-talkng just seems to be part of their DNA!

She can talk all the trash she wants because she can back it up unlike Chael. And drawing that kind of attention good or bad, is a good thing.Originally posted by dylanpumped View PostHer submission skills are impressive, but she ruins herself IMO by her constant pro-wrestling-style trash-talking.
