1) dogs weren't always domesticated until someone domesticated them, those dogs that killed the girl weren't properly domesticated IMO, but they are still dogs regarded as domestic dogs. I'm just demonstrating that there is a limit to the 'as long as they are brought up right' type of argument, on the grounds of breed, last time I checked wolf was still K9. i dunno, it just seems that folk are forever defending dogs (that were known as fighting dogs), and saying "don't prejudice my dog cause of its breed" yet all the serious dog attacks "that make the news" that I hear about, are those exact breeds! seems like something isn't consistent, either some people are making emotive not rational points Or the media aren't reporting proportionately.
2) I totally ca see it is about upbringing, temperament etc and all can vary from dog to dog, not just from one breed to another. I see the whole dangerous dogs debate as a very emotive one. I also see it as analogous to the guns debate in many ways but mainly; 1) some guns are more dangerous than others, 2) their danger entirely depends on the personality and temperament of their owner. As you know I used to own firearms, shotguns the whole none yards (legally licensed i might add), but although I used to fully defend the right of country folk to own guns for purposes, I could absolutely understand why fully automatic machine guns were banned. Yes they weren't dangerous in the likes of my hands, but in the wrongs hands, they would be absolutely devastating.
