Mon 30 MPH winds..didnt go...
Tues..after all the rain...I know a high spot in the swamp. park truck at 06:00 hrs..use GPS to get 7/10 om a mile thru the at times waist deep water. Finally hit high ground. No lights slowly slip thru trees to point. 07:05 he gobbles...200 yds. I set up..hens start calling all around me... I watch them fly down towards him...Bitches...he hits the ground and shuts up...wont respond to my calling...I hear hens goin away and I know he following his ladies... damn....
I pull a move most wont try...I cutt loud like an excited hen...then GOBBLE HARD.... he cant stand it..he tripple gobbles...I give it back he doubble gobbles....its on!!! I raise hell cutting purring ect and his ladies raise hell back...and start my way! a few min later I see movement...he jumps up on a log and goes into full strut...50 yds...and here he comes... at 30 yds I have been tracking him with the front bead..he hits an opening in the palmettos I cutt and flip off the safety..he streches out that neck and I squeeze the trigger...click....WTF?????? BAD SHELL.......
He swings his head around and stares right at me..... I move my finger to the slide release tap and apply pressure I hear the slide release.....still frozen... him looking at me..looking at him... after what seemd like an hour ( probably a min or so) he relaxed and took two steps and went behind a tree. When he did I pumped the mossy and reloaded a good shell he heard the slide on the shotgun and stuck his head around the tree...I lined up the sights and a 3.5 in 2oz load of #5 shot was on its way...BOOM...#1 for the year was going to go for a ride in the truck!!

Wed morning, I take the kidd out and we get set on a bird, we watch him fly down to withing 60 yds of us..but he dont wanna play and goes away.... I have been watching this bird for a few weeks and have an Idea what he did. so I go after him when I get off work...
I got into the drain area in the swamp where he likes to roost and set up and wait... and hour later I see movement...3 hens and two gobblers comming back in to roost...I let them get in close...almost too close..then I cant move,,I had a hen about 4 ft away from me..then the bigger Gobbler walked into the shooting lane at 15 steps...BOOM #2 is down...the hen that was almost on top of me did a BACK FLIP when the gun went off...she was so close...CRAZY.....so now I have to SLOW it down a bit..season dont end untill May...
SEASONS OFF TO A GREAT START!! And as I said in the video...redemption is a beautifull thing!!
