  • Happy holidays vs merry xmas

Having an argument with my girl.
I told her in the states most businesses will use 'Happy holidays' because of the risk of offending someone.
Everyone over here still uses ''merry Xmas"
Lol she thinks I'm full of shit.
    What do you guys say?

We have a lot more diversity than Australia perhaps? Even though Christmas is pretty secular these days, Happy Holidays sounds a lot more inclusive.

How about you slap the bitch and tell her to stfu; done!

But I say Happy Holidays. It is more appropriate less offending to most.

I do agree with your point and wish people would stop being so sensitive about everything.

Unfortunately it's not like this. It sucks as a society we get so sensitive about dumb shit like this.

Its Christmas to you but it might not be Christmas to somebody else. I really don't say either to strangers but I say Merry Christmas to my family and friends.

Bro I'm muslim. Lol. And I have no problem with celebrating christmas because it is chritmas.

Dec 25th is christmas what is there to be offended of?
People don't change yomkipur (sp), rashasana (sp) again :D or quanza so why change christmas? what's next? Stop saying happy fourth of july because someone might get offended? :disagree:

You make a good point. We should change it to "Santa Day" or something then...lol I just don't like the people that push the whole religious side of it. Jesus wasn't even born in December. :)

Have you always been Muslim beast? I devoloped an odd complex about the Muslim thing when I got in trouble few years back. Lots of guys young guys I noticed would claim to be Muslim and not know the first thing about Islam like its a gang or something and for real it is in a way to them. Always thought it disrespectful to true Muslims and gave them a bad Rep. Not saying any of the above about you at all.

I don't even pay attention, sometimes I say happy holidays and sometimes I say Merry Christmas. It's whatever filters from my brain to my mouth at that moment. People who get offended obviously don't have real issues to focus on. Neither one is intended to be an insult. It's like someone getting upset because you said "hi" instead of "hello". People are simply trying to be nice and offer a pleasant greeting, nothing else.

                          No worries brother. :)

Yes I've always been a muslim. I was born and raised in turkey while I did hear the prayers from the mosque five times a day my family never practiced religion so I'm like the guys you know I don't know shit about islam. My dad always said fuck religion just be a good person so I'm sticking to that. Lol.

I normally wouldn't even bring my religion up but I wanted to make a point that's all.

                              my thoughts exactly.

but i think there is nothing wrong with saying Merry Christmas or Happy Christmass or anything. Its because of those holidays that I also happen to get a day off from work.
