It's not that big a stretch. Chechen militants have been in the fray against the U.S. in the Middle East a very long time, they have always been included in threat assessments and direct attacks as far back as 2004 from my personal knowledge. Did anyone expect them to be taken alive? And if they were an independent cell and thought they got away with it then why run? Why not go back to your American life as college students and strike again in a year?
My point is there is way to little information right now to speculate coverup. For those expecting hardened battle seasoned terrorist operators..do you have any idea how much surveillance actually goes on in the U.S.? Did you know that in less than 48 hours the government was able to locate 30,000 social and multi-media messages with SPECIFIC indicators they were looking for to the bombing? Thats out of the MILLIONS of messages being texted, Tweeted, Facebooked, emails sent, etc. For them to be able to do that indicates a very very significant ability to monitor communications and who knows what else. We as a nation simply aren't as flat footed as we were back on 9/11.
My point is that its not that easy to enter our country as a hardened terrorist, fund, plan, and execute an operation while undetected. For me two young impressionable brothers from an Islamic extremist upbringing brought in as juveniles, trained, and then unleashed when they were old enough and the planning came together makes more sense. Just my initial thoughts.

Its conceivable being from the area they didn't have a complex egress route, were supposed to blow themselves up on with devices (<-----my personal theory), or were simply ditched after it went down. It's pretty obvious something went wrong, or they were just really naive on American response mechanisms. As I said before its a far different animal then on 9/11.
Either way two 19 year old kids were not the brain center of the operation..they were the soldiers, the jihad warriors, the ones to execute it...again just my theory and observations so far.Comment

US wants to get into syria, Russia is the main blockade holding them in check.
Russia wants to go hard at chechnya, UN of which US is one of the main player s, holds them back.

I speculating..but I don't think either of them did. Although the older one could have been the driving force, he went out guns blazing.
