I really dont think people are surprised or shocked by retaliation against the US. The general public expects it to happen these days. Hence the reason so many people live in fear or constant state of preparation. Of course their horrified when it happens but I don't think it comes as s surprise to anyone anymore. If it does they're foolishly ignorant; we stick our nose where it doesn't belong all too often.

I think you are describing a minority of Americans. I think the majority feel that we are the best and biggest and that big brother will keep us all safe and cozy. Citizens do not want to be in charge of their own safety and well being, they want the government to take care of those issues.

The administration won't let this opportunity go to waste, liberties and freedoms will be taken in the name of "safety".

And I wish the media would just stop with the "they do this because they are jealous of our freedom"...... Awful awful cliché. W Bush sold that jealousy stuff to us 12 years ago and I don't fucking buy it. We have been occupying a country for over a decade, you think they are angry or jealous? Typically I can agree with a lot of what you say but I really dont think the majority feel we are truly safe from harm anymore. Not post 9/11. Obviously, opinion.
