  • Vacation Advice.... Key West, Forida? Oh BTW I have a son now! :)

Never been, but the gf wants to go. Any and all advice welcomed on hotels, places to go, things to do, what to see, etc....

And best website to book all of that good stuff?????
    Thanks in advance fellas.

And on a side note, for those of you who have known me for years.... I have a son now, born feb 25th... All the times I've been told, "you'll know when you're a father one day." Now, I get it.

Sup bro, long time no see!

Only ever stayed at one hotel in Key West but I would definitely recommend it to anyone. When I was there it was a Wyndham but I did some searching for the website and it seems it is now called "The Reach" but the hotel and grounds still look exactly the same from the looks of the pics. I have no doubt you will love it if its anything like it was when I was there. Keep in mind that Key West isn't much of a "beach" place, its more about fishing, scuba diving, drinking and eating. That hotel I recommended does have a nice little beach but it is man made and I think I remember them saying they bring the sand in from the Bahamas or some shit.

Congrats on the son bro. :)

Congrats on the baby, and good to see you around. :)

I go to the Keys every year, but I personally wouldn't go all the way down to Key West if you're not interested in drinking or partying or fishing. It's just too far, and the fact that there is no beach, would make it a no for me. There's plenty of other spots in Florida to sit and relax in the sand, on the water.

Think it was something like $150 per night but this was years ago so I have no idea what they will be now.

You can do the relaxation in the sand thing but the water and beach is nothing like you would find in the Caribbean or even the Miami area. Key West just isn't a beach destination.

You live in Louisiana so a quick flight to Mexico or the Caribbean is a much better option for what it sounds like you want. I just got back from Riviera Maya (20 minutes from Cancun) and loved it. Perfect beach, perfect weather, and that laid back Caribbean vibe that your looking for.

Your gf might be disappointed with Key West if she is thinking it is anything like the Caribbean. It's very nice but for completely different reasons.

That is what I was thinking.
