Here are my thoughts for the game tonite.
About Marshall: 6-3 year, losing to Tenessee, Troy St., and Toledo, was not what this team had in mind. Losing their starting QB wasn't in the plans either. Stan Hill was the leader of this team and he is now out for the season. The Marshall O has done very well the last 2 games, hanging 40+ on W. Mich and Akron (MY high school team could score on that Akron D, lol)
About Miami OH: Great year at 8-1. Nationally ranked at number 24 (should be higher). Ben Roethlisberger is the real deal. Some scouts say that he will be the first QB taken when he enters the draft. This team embarassed Bowling Green in the national spotlight last time out. That game was at Miami OH, just like this.
Some stats:
MAR: 32.8 ppg
MOH: 39.3 ppg
MAR: 28.4 ppg on the ROAD
MOH: 44.8 ppg at HOME
MAR: 25.1 ppg given up
MOH: 17.7 ppg given up
(home and road here are virtually the same thing)
MAR: 3-4 ATS
MOH: 6-3 ATS
MAR: 3-2 on ROAD
MOH: 4-0 @ HOME
Last 5 games:
Marshall is 0-3-1 ATS (W. Mich i didn't have spread info for, if there was one)
Miami OH is 4-1 ATS
Now I understand 2 things to be true:
1) Traditionally Marshall OWNS these guys. Won the last 5.
2) 12.5 is a lot of points to be laying for these 2 teams.
BUT:
1) Out of those last 5 games, the 2 Marshall was on the road, they were 0-2 ATS vs these guys.
2) They just smoked BG by 23, 12.5 to Marshall is not as much as you think.
IMO, this game is pretty easy to cap. Big Ben will be too much O for this Marshall squad.
Pick: Miami Ohio -12.5
