I'm feeling chatty this morning, which I never do on here so you all can bear with me...or not;)

Lately I have had an increasingly hard time staying motivated in terms of lifestyle, meaning the cliche "staying in shape". Most of you who have been on here long enough know that my fitness goals are work related and functional rather than fashionable..meaning Im hairy, bearded, tattooed, and pack a shit ton of gear for work. Coming in second for me isn't an option.

I don't know if 20 plus years of always worrying about it, always trying to eat right, train right have just burned me out. I find myself staring into my fridge with no idea what to eat, and my workouts have been lacking as well. Getting hurt and surgery didn't help either I suppose..It's kind of like my brain is tired of trying to figure out what to do on a given day...I was actually looking online for a decent week to week custom diet plan that I could just pay someone to write for me lol :retard: Just curious if anyone has hit that wall...or if I just need to suck it up:thumb:

I totally understand the getting burned out part. I used to think I would always have this undying love for the gym. Somewhere along the way, I lost it. I know that eating right and exercising are essential, and I will never allow myself to be fat, etc - but the passion is no longer there. I also think the longer you don't do it, the easier it is to not want to.

AND....I don't think you need to pay anyone to write you a diet each week. You know what to eat and not eat. It would be a waste of money!

Take a break if you haven't already. Change gyms, do some cardio outside, mix things up a bit where you can - it could help. :)

Oh boy, another thread for the old members to depress me with stories of how they "lost the desire" or how "priorities change". Ripper is like 72 and that fucken guy is killing it! You lost your passion for it.. well get it the fuck back! :breakit:

Sounds like its time to set a goal and change things up funnirish. I know you say you do this for function rather then looks but maybe that should change a little bit. When you can see physical changes week to week, it can be a major kick in the ass to keep pushing hard.

THIS. No matter how bad it may suck sometimes, soaking wet clothes, aches and pains, killing yourself all week to the point of exhaustion.. all worth it when you look in the mirror. Training and dieting without having much concern for how you look is like going to work and not getting paid. WTF you doing it for!!

Lol you have a good point with that last line...I suppose I should clarify..I care what I look like but in terms of bodybuilding that hasn't been a concern..however, you make a good argument for maybe changing things up in terms of goal setting..shaving my chest though..lol I dunno man:eww:

FB ya I think you're right...it has just gotten to be a pain in the ass, but in retrospect that is never going to change.

And auri I get your meaning, the only reason I think I haven't sat on the couch with Bon Bons is because I couldn't tolerate myself not working out.

I am going to take a week off, I have a vacation coming up, and contemplate switching things up...maybe CROSSFIT!!!...I kid I kid:x lol but I think maybe a change of direction is in order..I appreciate the moto folks, glad I posted:thumb:

Yep been there man. 20 years of Army PT plus hitting the gym as much as training/ deployments would allow. When I got out..I stopped..10 years I did nothing.... turned into a POS..worst thing I ever did.. Now Im hitting it hard, watching diet.Ive been back for a bit over two years and finally getting back to where I feel good about myself again. I wish I never let myself go as I lost all the size I had. Now Im a skinny old bastard, but at least in shape again. If ya need a break its all good..but dont let it go man.... I fucked up but I learned.

Yup you have a pretty good idea of where I am coming from..same river different canoe...its like my brain has just short circuited lol. Diet is where I am noticing it more probably because its the key component of maintaining or achieving fitness, and the most difficult. I simply have sat there staring into my refrigerator more often than not lately:retard:

I am going to use my week off to develop something comprehensive..I think I may incorporate a weekly meal plan, shop once a week, cook once a week type thing and have it laid out daily what to eat..take the guesswork out of it. I am definitely going to change up my diet, maybe look to add or subtract somethings on the supplement side of the house. Bounce I may hit you up in regards to diet...seems like you may be doing something right;)This shit does get tougher as you get older I will tell you...pretty weird when you think about it.

No problem at all bro. Goals and a set plan will get you back on track. There will be no "staring into the refrigerator" when you know exactly what you have to eat and when you have to eat it. The more you see the results the easier it will get.

I know exactly where you are comming from bro. I just ended pretty much a yr off. I would workout here and there and eat a chicken breast here and there but pretty much a year off.

im back in gym 3 months now and soon as I see a bit more progress I will diet again.

bouncer can talk all the shit he wants about get the drive back but untill you worked out 25 years straight you have no clue.

I say take your week off eat shit lay around ect. i bet that alone will have you back in gym end of week.
it used to work for me all the time untill I started fighting then everything was 100% worse diet was more strict workouts were way way way harder did that for 6 or so years. thats where I broke. you are doing the same plus the mental stress so I get what you are saying bro
