  • Leaving in 2 weeks for 6-week vacation in India

Pretty excited about it actually - I haven't been there in a very long time. It would be interesting to see how the country of my birth is coming along!

Biggest concern is finding a gym - a week off the gym is ok, but there's no way I am vegging out for 6 weeks. Last time I was there, I found a rickety old gym with the kind of iron weights where the rust comes off the barbell and stains you hands bright orange after each set. But now with the Internet, I found many gyms in every city there but I can't tell if these are fufu gyms or actual hardcore ones.

Gotta show my Indian brothers what working out is all about! :D

That's awesome man! I'm sure you'll have a blast. Do you enjoy the food there? The entire family going?

Yep, everyone is going. The 13 year old can remember the last time we were there, but the 8 year old was I think 1 year old then and has no recollection. So they are pretty excited as well.

Food will be great and ridiculously cheap. Gotta be careful with the water - easy to get the Indian equivalent of Montezuma's revenge. We plan on taking trains everywhere, immersing ourselves in the culture and the people and not do like rich tourists and locking ourselves up in resorts. I can speak the language fluently as can my wife, so we should have no trouble impersonating the locals. :)

Sounds amazing. Traveling through India by train is a dream of mine. I know you will take a lot of amazing photos, can't wait to see them.

Enjoy your trip! Invest in a few bobbles bottles. They can save you and the family a lot of trouble.

Gotta be honest scrum, India is not very high on my places to visit list. Maybe your pictures will change that.

Will you be able to get online from where your staying?

Have a good time my brother.

Leaving for the Bahamas in a few minutes. Sort of the same, right? :P

I hope you and your family have a fantastic time. I can imagine it will be a trip to remember forever for your boys. Bring back lots of pictures! My dad has been in Abu Dhabi for the last week, but he never ever brings us pictures! :disagree:

Thanks, all! And Bouncer, I am pretty sure you are not going to enjoy a place like India, bro! You are more of the Mexican resort kind of guy. This trip will be like flying into Mexico City and then taking a bus into the countryside and living in little Mexican towns. Maybe a better way to experience Mexican culture, but certainly not like staying in Cancun!
