This case is about everything but George Zimmerman. It's racism, it's gun control, ugh. What a mess. I thought for SURE they'd be terrified to let him off, for fear of what might happen. I would not like to be a juror right now.

Worst part of all this.. it was baited up to be a racist issue from the media and politics. If everyone is so damn concerned about young blacks being killed. Why they hell isn't something being done in Chicago?

I avoided everything about this case as much as possible, but it really seems like a case of a power hungry, trigger happy cop wannabe and a typical cocky teenager crossing paths at the wrong time. However, instigated by Zimmerman's unnecessary pursuit. Doesn't seem race played any part until the media got ahold of it.

Interesting case. I thought maybe it was going to end in manslaughter just to come to a happy medium,,,but that sentence could have landed him in jail for years. Bad situation all the way around. I pray for both familys.

Examining what I could from all the media sources out there, the outcome was pretty much predetermined if the jury could avoid political and racially motivated pressure, which it appears they did.

When you have the investigating detective telling the prosecution the evidence isn't substantiated for a murder charge, that's a very telling statement.

The forensic evidence from both sides corroborated Zimmerman's story, that he was being assaulted at the time he pulled the trigger. His story was the same, and witness testimony was inconclusive.

For me I could give a shit if Zimmerman or Martin was a purple people eater, or had a third eye growing out of their forehead..none of that is relevant to the prosecution of the case.. the facts--just facts mind you, not speculation, spoke volumes in this case. The prosecution simply did not prove its case, for either manslaughter or murder.

Just read that the DOJ is going to look at possible civil rights charges--wow, what bullshit..if any case has been more driven by race in recent memory, I can't think of one.

I take a detatched look at this case. Basically, you had a guy following this Trayvon kid. Does that give the kid the right to turn around, throw on him, knock him down, and start bashing his head off the sidewalk repeatedly? No...keep walking, dummy...bad things can happen when you decide to hit someone. This kid saw a fat out of shape looking 'soft target', and decided to try and be a tough guy...but the 'soft target' was packing, so he got shot and killed.

If being punched, knocked down, and having your head smashed off of cement isn't a good time to defend yourself if you can...well then, I don't know what is. The jury got it right.
