  • Netflix Documentaries

Documentaries are pretty much all I watch on Netflix so I figured I would make a thread recommending the ones I like. I watch them while I eat my meals on the computer so I go through them pretty quickly. All the documentaries I post here are available on instant stream.

I gave up on the Ken Burns Prohibition one after realizing it was a 3 part series each one being an hour and a half long. It just got to boring for my taste.

Currently watching The Reich Underground. Pretty interesting, its about the massive tunnels and underground factories the Nazi's started building when they started getting pounded above ground from the allies.

Few more I have recently watched that I really enjoyed and learned shit I didn't know previously.

Secrets of the Dead - World's Biggest Bomb

Secrets of the Dead - Churchill's Deadly Decision

Secrets of the Dead - Deadliest Battle

Secrets of the Dead - China's Terracotta Warriors

Secrets of the Dead - Lost in the Amazon

Secrets of the Dead - Slave Ship Mutiny

Secrets of the Dead - Silver Pharaoh

Nova - Secrets of the Sun

    Nova - 3D Spies of WW2

    Nova - Bombing Hitler's Dams

    The Jeffrey Dahmer Files

    Alexandria

    Madness in the White City

    Radio Bikini

This Oscar-nominated documentary chronicles the eye-opening story of Bikini Atoll, which in 1946 was the site of U.S. atomic bomb tests that left the island uninhabitable for 40 years and exposed thousands of sailors to heavy doses of radiation.

American Experience: Death and the Civil War

This film explores how the American Civil War created a "republic of suffering" and charts the far-reaching social, political and social changes brought about by the pervasive presence and fear of death during the war.

        BLACKFISH

"This fascinating documentary examines the life of performing killer whale Tilikum -- who has caused the deaths of several people while in captivity -- and questions the safety and humaneness of confining these intelligent creatures."

I love a lot of that PBS documentary shit too. The ken burns ones are outstanding but yeah you're right, they're long as fuck. The one about the dust bowl is sweet. Saw the prohibition one and lewis and Clark one too, also good stuff. Secrets of the dead is good, and all WWll shit is awesome on there...

This has caused a LOT of problems for Sea World. I didn't watch the entire thing, but some of it is hard to watch.

Orca are such fantastic creatures with complex family structures. I've been on whalewatching trips off the West Coast and we see orca pods with 3 generations swimming around. Other than primates and elephants, I don't there are too many more social creatures. Locking one of them up alone is the equivalent of solitary confinement. It's criminal.

Hey Bouncer, did you ever see "Wild South America?" It is on Amazon Prime, not sure if it is also on Netflix or not. It is in 5 or 6 parts. Highly recommended.

                              Gandhi - Amazon Prime

Just started watching. I know embarrassingly little about the man. From what I understand, this film is pretty accurate on his life and events. Older movie but has good reviews.
