  • Count your blessings...

They may not be here when you blink your eyes....

My wife's father was hit head on by a drunk driver yesterday. If he wasnt driving his big Chevy HD diesel he may have been killed. The drunk hit him so hard with his family sedan size car that it split the engine block of the truck and totalled the entire front end. Anyone familiar with those trucks understands how incredibly powerful the impact had to be to do such damage.

Her father is ok. A lot of bumps and bruises. The drunk is on life support.

My daughter and I just did Skype with him a few hours prior. Then we get the call about the accident. I couldn't imagine telling her her pappy is gone or anyone for that matter.

You ponder all the what could have beens while being thankful for the positive turn out.

I'm happy to hear he's okay. That's so scary. Also makes you want to keep your kids (and loved ones) in a bubble.

How is your wife taking it?

Girl I know 17 year old sister was on the back of her boyfriends bike this past weekend and fell off the back somehow. Hit her head (people don't wear helmets in Chicago), was on life support up until yesterday morning, didn't make it. fucken 17, too young. Her older sister is an absolute fucken wreck.

Even though he is ok, she was a wreck yesterday and this morning. She still has raging pregnancy hormones.

That's a tragic story. 17 is entirely too young.

First to admit, I take shit for granted all the time. But it's stories like these that make me stop for a second and say to myself.. "everything could be taken away in an instant". Kinda makes you slow down for a bit.

We all do. Its so hard not to as you go about your day to day life, you get consumed by the things that you're doing.

That was my point of making this post.
