Left wine country 2 days ago and came down to San Fran. Mixed feelings so far. The city itself is not as clean or as "happening" as Chicago. The skyline of the downtown area is definitely lacking compared to the big cities. Huge homeless population because of the great weather. So the next time someone tells me about how horrible Chicago winter is, im going to point out that it acts as a homeless cleanser!! :D
All that said... the residential area, golden gate, alcatraz, lombard, and all the rest of the tourist spots are just as impressive as I had imagined. Just beautiful.
Between Napa, Sonoma, Yountville, and now San Fran, I have had the best food I have ever had in my life. Everything is just consistently amazing, fresh fresh California ingredients. ZUZU in napa was THE best meal I have ever had in my life bar none. Close second is Chez Panisse in Berkeley. Bringing in the top 3 would be Thomas Keller's ad hoc in Yountville.
It's been a pretty amazing trip and hats off to California, it really is an amazing place for so many reasons. Already planning another wine tour trip next year for the Paso Robles, Carmel, Santa Barbara area, cant wait!
On my way home tomorrow and I am ready for it. I am wined out for sure, almost puked last night and if you know me, it takes a lot of fucking wine to do that!
Will post pics when I get home, I am too drained to do it now like I usually do on my trips. On my way to watch the America's cup boat race that starts today for a bit!
P.S. Pretty sure I saw beast and rocket fighting yesterday. These 2 fat stinky ass sea lions down at fishermans wharf. Cute little buggers!
Rant over. :P
