  • Franco Columbu is one good dude

Well, it seems as if there's not too much new shit being posted today, so I thought I'd share a little story for those who are bored and up late and perhaps half drunk like myself.lol

The gym I go to is owned by a local older steel business owner, a friend of my family. I'd say its about 25' by 60' with another 300 sq. ft. free weight room. This guy lets a select few people come lift whenever they want-have my own key. It's not health club quality, but is insulated/heated/stereo/etc...Around 20 Nautilus machines, and just about all the free weight shit you could need-thousands of lbs of olympic plates, benches, bars....you get the idea. Well, since I have this luxury for free, I felt like I owe the old guy something...Money seemed irrelevant since he's pretty much a millionaire. The reason he started his "personal gym" was because back in the day Franco Columbu inspired him-his favorite bodybuilder. So, I found Franco's website and told him the story and ordered an autographed 8x10 personalized photo for my friend ED(owner of my gym). Two weeks later, Franco had sent me not one, but two personalized photos for Ed. So I got them framed in nice B&W frames and gave them to him as a token of thanks for all he's done for me. I e-mailed Franco and thanked him- then he sends me two more personalized 8x10's :) one for me, another for Ed the owner of my gym....Hey, I know this is a long ass post, but I thought that was cool as fuck. If you're a Franco fan, guess what-not only was he an amazing bodybuilder, he's also ONE GOOD DUDE

Good post. Always thought he was cool blowing up hot water bottles and lifting cars. He's done it all, boxing, bodybuilding, powerlifting. He's broke his leg once in the first ever stong man comp. He was running down a hill with a fucking refrigerator strapped to his back. He was winning the race until he fell on his ass.

Yeah and after he fucked up his leg in that strongman competition, dr's told him he'd never be able to compete again...he then won the '81 olympia after that :)
