  • Bullying....An epidemic?

I for one think this has been an issue going back to our grandparents if not farther back.

Seems lately it's been on the news more often. From the Miami Dolphins to this kid in high school.

I think it's fair to say this happens ED in just about every aspect of life. From sports...at work...school...hell even here on this board lol.

But why are people making it more vocal today? But not back then? Guess once you have someone come out, much easier to talk about it?

My son got in trouble for what the school calls "verbal disruption" because he was making fun of the teachers reading glasses lol...I call that bullying; don't sugar coat that shit:D

Needless to say. My son knew it was wrong and has been stellar after the son daddy talk.

It's a bigger deal now because today's kids can't handle the shit. They've been babied too much by their parents and officials at school. Our world has turned into a bunch of liberal pussies IMO. Not more old school values, morals, integrity, ability to stand up for one's self, work ethic, the list goes on. Sure, there are some bullying issues that are just waaaaay out of line, but people make a much bigger deal about being called names and shit like that. Hell, I got teased for being skinny almost on a daily basis in school, but I wouldn't consider that bullying. I'd just fuck with whoever it was right back.lol

I remember bein 15 on the schoolbus, and this asshole had to tease me every day bc I had an earring. "Hey faggot, where'd you get your earring, fags r us?" After a week of that, I clocked him in the face and he never fucked with me again, or anybody else for the most part. Kids need to know how to standup for themselves. When they don't learn at an early age, they don't know how to handle the real world later on in life of they need to.

It's even a bigger issue now because of social media. It takes one click of a send button to spread a vicious rumor and create a whirlwind of drama.

My buddy's niece just jumped to her death from the top of an old cement factory tower due to cyber bullying and stalking. How tormented do you have to be to commit to something like that?!?

I tend to agree with MattG on this topic. Todays media makes the world a small place, from Facebook, to tweeting, to TMZ, or whatever..shit is right in your living room. I think kids today react the way they do because they get a reaction much of the time..primarily because of the enabling, touchy feely, awww tolerate everything, let the government take care of you, sense of entitlement that is being procreated on every level. Kids are offing themselves almost because they are expected to. You think if we were creating the mindset among our children that if you are a bully you get your ass kicked, kids being bullied would react differently? Yes. 20 years ago if you were an asshole people called you out for being an asshole. And if you bullied a weaker kid, generally a bigger kid came along and pushed your nose in. Thus ended the lesson about being an ass.

I read today that a mother, a military veteran, was banned from her child's school because she posted a copy of her concealed weapons permit on her facebook. The principal said that she scared him. WTF. This kind of Pussification can't help but bleed over to our kids...bullying classes, equality classes, where is the "stand the fuck up for yourself" class? It doesn't exist, because rather than stand up, have an opinion, and assert your individuality regardless of your view, the rank and file want tolerance...but only if it suits them. Don't bully, everybody get along...guns are scary, and violent, conservatives are the devil, its ridiculous the agenda that is being pushed on our kids..meanwhile we create a new generation completely dependent on the government to tell them whats good, whats bad, whats okay, and whats allowed, whats depressing. Its disheartening.

I edited this because I just read blm's comment about his buddy's niece. Its tragic anytime a kid kills themselves-truly..but what is more tragic to me is that we have put such importance on Facebook, Twitter, and the rest of social media. It should not be so impactive of our childrens self worth that if Mary Joe Rotten Crotch posts that I have a little dick, I decide to drink Drano. Self worth starts with self, the internet is a tool, it shouldn't dicate your life or your self worth..at least from my perspective.

It's always been around, true, but the amplification is turned up 10x today due to various factors like social media, the general lack of empathy in children today (that has changed a punch in the nose to jabbing someone's eyes out with a pencil), and the fact that, statistically, the traditional two-parent family unit is a relic of yesteryear - and even if both parents are around they are probably both working to make sure everyone has iPads.

I'm a single parent with an 8-year-old son, and I can tell you that things aren't the same as they were even 10 years ago for kids. There is a lack of accountability and responsibility because there is a general lack if supervision and quality time spent as family units. It's also because of social media and parents posting online every damn thing they or their kids do - the kids think they are in a movie 24/7 and performing for an audience. Subconsciously. So if they are going to fuck with another kid, they do it for an audience - and there is a big fucking difference between having your ass handed to you after school at the bus stop, and having it fucking videoed and shared with your family, friends, teachers, girlfriend, buddies, etc. That is mind-numbing embarrassment and humiliation. Overwhelming. And the kids doing it don't even realize how devastating it is.

Facebook makes me rage. Full of so much stupid shit and stupid ass people. Which is why I refuse to be a part of it, besides not wanting ppl to know my business. I'm not saying everybody that's into facebook is screwed up. Shit, almost everybody I know under the age of 60 is on it. But it is flat out ruining society IMO.
