I wonder if that is the same dog and elephant I recently read about. They became friends and the dog got real sick and was stuck in the house for weeks. The elephant stayed vigil outside the gate to the home night and day for weeks until they were reunited. The dog would lay under the elephant and allow the elephant to rub its belly. Pretty awesome story.
