You Think You Know Someone, and Then He Gets on a Stage and Blows Your Mind
    Love this guy

Blows your mind? Sorry that speech just wasn't that good. Interdependence, disobedience, etc. Yeah fucking right. Matt Damon wants that about as bad as he wants his next movie to flop. Guy is blowing smoke.

Stupid celeb opening up his stupid blow hole.

Why would you call the guy stupid?

That speech wasn't a speech. It was an excerpt from a Howard Zinn essay written 25+ years ago. It was at a Howard Zinn commemorative reading 3 years after his death. Google him. Different ideas than many, but a well respected best-selling author, historian, and famous college professor for almost a quarter of a century.

You may want to Google 'Matt Damon' as well - doesn't appear you know as much about him, either, as his impromptu speech on live TV during a teachers strike a few years ago was pretty powerful - here's a side I bet you've never seen of him: http://youtu.be/gGlf8J2PGhI

As far as a stupid blowhole - a Harvard guy that wins an Oscar with the first movie he wrote doesn't sound like a dipshit but what do I know?

A lot of politicians attended Ivy League schools, I would put them in the stupid/corrupt/out of touch category as well.

Your 2 videos speak for themselves. Not really sure how either support your statement - but we can just agree to disagree :)

He was a huge Obama supporter and using his celebrity to influence voters. Dissing Palin about job experience which is laughable if you were backing Obama. Palin and Obama were both unqualified.

Guy doesn't feel that he pays enough taxes, OK I am sure the government would love for him to pay a lot more. He should keep 60k and give the rest to charity and the government.

His education rant was bullshit. The unions and government destroyed education. Plenty of teachers are in it for the money and job security. Above 40k a year starting is not shifty pay for a 9 month Jo, sorry. Tenure and the unions fucked education. Tons of girls that I know picked teaching so that they could go to a university and meet a husband and hopefully land a sweet job with summers off, true fucking story.

I am in grad school and I can take my entire educational experience from kindergarten and name 5-6 teachers that I felt really had the gift. They are few and far between. So no, I don't think a rich out of touch celebrity spouting off crap about education is that relevant. Don't care what his mom does, she is part of the problem. Striking for collective bargaining agreements, fuck them.

Do enjoy the convoy though. No problem with disagreeing. Have a good one.

Who doesn't want job security whatever they have a passion to do? Is it realistic to say the majority of the population would eat a shit sandwich just to do what they were driven to do? No..its unrealistic. You can be driven to do something and want to be financially secure, and I know plenty of educators that are both.

I also know garbagemen that make more than teachers, and aren't exactly driven by an intrinsic desire to haul shit from point A to B. There is no one right answer.

Education in America is fucked, we absolutely agree on that. Unions in America are fucked, I think we agree on that.

As for Matt Damon, personally I wouldn't piss on the guy if he was on fire--my list is long as to why. I do also agree that its easy to say you aren't paying enough in taxes when you literally have more money then you know how to spend...to me that's just grandstanding.

However, for the Hollywood crowd, he is decidedly more informed and educated when giving his opinion then the majority of them...while I don't agree with his politics, and laugh because everyone seems to forget the vigor in which he was sucking Obamas knob initially, he at least poses a moderately thought out argument with some forethought behind it before he runs his suck.

And more importantly to me..which may not seem a big deal..but the guy admits when he made a mistake. You have people right now that would swear Obama is the answer if he grew horns and called hellfire and brimstone from the sky..they absolutely cannot see past a political affiliation...he at least has come out and said..he was my guy--and he has totally fucked it up. I value candor. And Good Will Hunting was a good movie.

Yes - what he said :)

I wasn't agreeing with his speech or anything else he's done/said - I was saying a) it wasn't his speech to begin with, and b) that the guy isn't stupid. He did do Ludlum right with the entire Bourne franchise IMO.
