Rado, I am SURE you've got roasters in your area. Stop buying coffee at BJs. They probably have roasted their coffee 6 months ago. Local roasters roast every day. The online guys I mentioned roast to order, so at most a few days before you receive it. Nothing like buying local, and I am sure you can fine ones that sell fair trade coffee.

we ended up getting this today...it is really really good...i haven't done the cold brew yet, but did have a hot one when i got home. i'll do a cold brew tomorrow.Originally posted by Turbo3000 View PostYou can pick when adding it to your cart. I got 2 8oz bags to try out. I'll buy more in bulk if I love one of them. I'm ready for this cold brew world. Half brewing coffee and half chemistry experiment. Win win. I'm ready to get my supplies.
this bag is 2.5lbs and it was $16.99 at BJ's...but i definitely want to find like 3 good brands/flavors and alternate from time to time, while i do explore other types and brands.
this coffee thing has me going:D

fair enough. this will be our last bag and will look into local or try that site you suggested. good point about those beans being roasted months ago. but this particular brand(BJ's)posts their roasted time stamp. it was done on 12/16/16...regardless not as fresh as if it were a few days ago or 24hrs, i get it:DOriginally posted by Scrumhalf View PostRado, I am SURE you've got roasters in your area. That's my point and the coffee taste is so good. I will get some other kind to try.Originally posted by Turbo3000 View Post2.5lbs for 16. That is a deal.
I didn't notice my final total last night. Just checked my receipt... 2 8oz bags for 22 all in. Should last me awhile. The wife doesn't drink coffee.

Didn't a 1:2:1 mix of coffee concentrate:water:milk and poured over ice. It was fantastic. Extremely smooth.
I think I'll do a 1:1 mix of concentrate:water in the AM before gym.
Going to do a batch using regular grocery store coffee to taste the difference. I think the fact that the beans were roasted a couple of days ago contributed a lot to the smoothness. I think cold brew works best for my lifestyle. I'm the only coffee drinker in the house. I like having the option of having a cold or hot beverage. I can keep it brewed and ready in the refrigerator.

Your ninja does cold brew, or do you do the French press method of cold brewing?
Drinking during workout seems like a good idea. I might do a 1:3 ratio and drink it during.

it's a good drink to walk around with. i carry my gym bag with me that has my other water bottles in there. but usually i'll finish the cold brew like halfway through training. try it, i bet you'll like it...i also like having coffee breath in the morning:D

I see. I looked at the ninja and I think it is a great system. It would probably be fine for my needs. It is more of a brew over ice than a cold brew, but I doubt my palate could truly discern a difference. I got the toddy system to try because it was $31 vs $110+ for the ninja. I was also trying to limit counter takeover. I hate stuff out in the kitchen.Originally posted by rado View PostIt has the setting for the Cold brew and other drinks as well.
