I was 12, shooting rifles with an older uneducated shooter. He didn't understand vectors. We were shooting floating targets from upstream of the creek. He missed his target in his vector and turned to shoot into mine which put his barrel across my forehead.

Removed every layer of skin and muscle down to the skull. Bled profusely but was completely painless.

Crazy shit for sure. An inch from blowing my brains out.

I instantly fell to the ground. Stood up, felt a warm wet sensation, realized I was covered in blood, lost vision from amount of blood in my eyes, walked across the road to the house and terrified my mother and went to the er.

We didn't fight but we drifted as friends because he was so freaked out about "what could've been".

Could you imagine if that happened in today's society?!?
