  • Master & Commander.

I saw it this weekend. Very good movie. Not a resounding film in the movie-making since. But a very complete film that is very "real" to the watcher.

If you don't really want to see sea battles between two ships from a couple hundred years ago, then it may not be a film you want to drop $8.50 on. If you are just going to see Russell Crow (ladies) then it probably isnt his best either. The doctor (supporting actor Paul Bettany) actually is probably the best actor of the film and should maybe be considered for some awards, but I'm sure he'll skipped over like J .Pheonix did in Gladiator. (Admit it... you know you hated him as the emperor in that movie. A great villan.)

But there is a good story and good battles. Never a moment of thinking "thats so unreal". If this is the kind of movie you want to see, then you will enjoy yourself and the film no doubt. More of a guys movie for the most part. The battle scenes will not reproduce themselves on the TV for you later. Either you see it at the movies or you will miss out on much of the atmosphere and feeling. Some of the battles scenes and seafaring scenes are tremendous.

The film probably deserves a 7.5 (of 10) as a movie for everyones list. As its my kind of movie I give it a

    8.5 (out of 10)

That looks pretty good from the previews I've seen on TV but if there is one movie that I want to see the most and I'm drooling since I've seen the previews online and that is the Lord Of The Rings:The Return Of The King

Looks great, as does Troy. I love the fact hat they are remaking all of these historical events into movies. I want to see a REALLY good movie of Hannibal (no not H. Lecter, the Carthaginian General ) made.

So... this movie isn't really Time Bandits 2 where they continue with the storyline of the Giant who has a boat on his head... damn...

IMO, the movie was worth the $$ I spent on the tickets (took my dad last night for his b-day). If you have read any of Patrick O'Brian's work then you will be happy with the film.. but for those that are not into history - the move is still worth seeing as there are no other realistic films out right now.

Yeah dildo, I'm sure everybody would think of Hannibal Barca the greatest military commander ever, before they would think of Silence of the Lamb's Hannibal Lecter. Hollywood is much more powerful than History when it comes to what people learn or remember.
