Forget the Empire state building. Make the view worth it and have a cocktail to boot.

Thanks for the tip. I wouldn't eat there, but we could at least go up there and have a few drinks. Then my money is spent on alcohol with a view, instead of and elevator ride and a view.

Memorial is beautiful, should be able to walk right up to it. No ticket, no security theater.

Damn, really? For a memorial. Contradicts everything it stands for. That's sad.

                    Yep.

None of the security stuff was revealed when I was buying tickets. It was full on TSA. Belt off, pockets empty. The Freedom tower is a great name, but there isn't much freedom left in this once great city. I will always love NYC, but a line needs to be drawn.

Memorials should be open 24/7 with some guards and donation boxes set up. I guarantee it will be a lot cheaper than the current setup.

I went to dinner at a place by the highline. Can't remember the name but it was good. Has an enclosed indoor and outdoor area. When waking the highline there was a tour going and right after it went past that hotel the wife and I saw a naked women in a window. To far up to see if she was hot or not though.

My dad worked for the park services up until last summer. There is much need for the security at 9/11 memorial even if it just seems like an annoyance. Some of it also has to do with all the construction going on. There is plain clothes security around there too.

As for the statute, if you haven't gone yet you might want to check to make sure it's open to go inside. They were supposed to be doing some work through the winter that was going to close down some of it for some time.

Lady Liberty was open, too cold for all of that.

The security theater is just that...theater. Might as well lock up DC and all of the memorials as well.

Ma Peche was a great experience. The habanero fried chicken was fucking amazing. I had to leave the south and come to NYC to have fried chicken that blew my mind. Wow.

Good food, good wine, great desserts.
