  • The Buddha

Just finished watching a PBS documentary on The Buddha. Knew nothing about him or Buddhism in general so I figured it would be worth a watch so I'm not completely ignorant on the subject. I'm not religious by any means but if I was going to pick a religion it would probably be Buddhism. The general message behind his teachings is something that makes far more sense to me then other religions. Basically who gives a shit about an after life or a "god" live and enjoy today! All that matters.

It's available for free on amazon instant streaming. Worth a watch.

    The Buddha | PBS

"This documentary for PBS by award-winning filmmaker David Grubin and narrated by Richard Gere, tells the story of the Buddha’s life, a journey especially relevant to our own bewildering times of violent change and spiritual confusion. It features the work of some of the world’s greatest artists and sculptors, who across two millennia, have depicted the Buddha’s life in art rich in beauty and complexity. Hear insights into the ancient narrative by contemporary Buddhists, including Pulitzer Prize winning poet W.S. Merwin and His Holiness the Dalai Lama."

Definitely a "civilized" religion. Doesn't claim it's the only way and anyone who doesn't follow it should be converted or killed. No coincidence that it has never been involved in religious wars or terrorism in over 2000 years.
