How is moving the battery from the hood to the trunk going to do anything for weight balance when Audi has no control of whether the driver is a 110 lb woman or a 250 lb guy? Serious question.... sounds like a gimmick to my uneducated eye.

I thought they did it for engine room. I dunno.Originally posted by Scrumhalf View PostHow is moving the battery from the hood to the trunk going to do anything for weight balance when Audi has no control of whether the driver is a 110 lb woman or a 250 lb guy? Pulled this from an Audi forum:
The trunk (boot for our UK friends) is a better place for the nervous little electro-chemical device called a battery. The temperature extremes and dirt that comes with living near the engine is detrimental to the health of the battery. There are also major consumers of electricity in the rear of the car now, so having the source there is not without advantage of lightening the car with less wire. The biggest advantage is better weight distribution for improved handling. The B8 cars handle so much better because the battery is moved aft. The re-arranged drive axle in the front and the split torque diff in the center are a big help also.
The location is a major improvement over the original Beetle from Audi's parent company. That had the battery under the back seat cushion. Many a car went up in flames when a porker sat in the back and the seat springs shorted the battery terminals and sparks set the seat cover on fire.

K so i'm probably going to get the windows tinted in the next few weeks. I don't know much about it but rocket was saying 30% would be about perfect? everyone agree with that? I want it to look clean and sharp. i feel like if its too dark it gets a bit "gangsta" looking.
price range wise, beast was saying about $200ish for regular tint and rocket mentioned ceramic tint that will prob be closer to $400ish. Is the ceramic tint worth it? keep in mind it's a lease but it's a 42 month lease so I will have it for a long time to come. Don't mind the more expensive tint IF it's truly worth it.

something else i noticed compared to other cars iv'e owned. it's more geared towards accelerating at speed rather then going from zero to 60. it's fast enough going 0 to 60 (around 6 seconds) but where I am really impressed is how fast it accelerates from 60 to 100 on the highway. just the calm and quite matter it goes about getting up to speed is what makes it really different from anything iv'e owned before.

30% is typical in the front and 15% in the the rear (legally) in Florida. The lower the percentage the darker the tint; that is the percentage of light that it allows to come through. That is why a lot of tinted vehicles you see are darker in the rear that the front. To answer your question; 30% is fine. I had 5% (limo tint) in the past and although it looks really good, it's horrible for driving at night. Headlights are merely little dots in your mirrors. Depth perception is terrible.
