  • Does anyone else have a MacBook?

My computer seems to run SO hot almost all the time. What is the normal temp supposed to be? And what about the rpm? There is a website I have to use a lot for school, and it always makes the temp of my laptop skyrocket to like 170 degrees (5799 rpm). It's so hot, I know it can't be good for it. Is there anything I can do??

Do you have macscan? If so get rid of it.

"Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder. Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu. Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order. If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time (>=70,) then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar. Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process. See if that helps. Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem."

I have a MacBook Pro. It's two years old. I'll look for that thing you posted.

Nope, nothing using up a lot of CPU time. The most was Firefox and it was only 20.

I'll have to try it and see what it says. But what's the normal temp supposed to be? Like right now my computer is 140.
