It would be interesting to see how this pans out. Both iPhone and Android are large enough to where car companies cannot pick one and ignore the other. This is a classic case where just like DLNA or HDMI, the phone companies need to develop a standardized communication protocol, maybe IEEE sponsored, that standardizes the interface between phone and car system, much like today's HD A/V systems. That way, both sides can innovate while maintaining platform-independent compatibility.
