I did indeed mean from a more top level strategic perspective. Soldiers fighting for what they believe in to protect me have my full respect and deserve dignity.

Its just that we're on thd verge of our governments trying to convince us that we need to go back in tk protect our safety.

If by stability you mean a horrific dictator who ruled with an iron fist, released chemical weapons on his own citizenry, snatched and grabbed anyone who opposed him, raised two of the most sadistic motherfuckers on the planet who killed, raped and tortured countless people, began genocide against the citizens of Iraq because they were of different descent, committed mass murder estimated at over 100,000 people, punished people with amputation for speaking out politically, prohibited assembly, controlled political parties, hung political opponents, ran several dungeons that housed people for decades, raped, assassinated, killed without repercussion anyone who opposed the regime....then ya I guess it was a tad more stable.

It seems like an almost egotistical narcissistic phsychology where we can't let it go.

The population is a mix of essentially tribal types that will fight forevermore and whatever puppet government or indeed democratically elected on you see into power will be predominantly comprised of one tribe/religeous variant, it will then favour that same denomination in how it governs. The other tribe/s wilm rebel, potentially with the help of other middle eastern countries and so o and so on

Its like trying to herd cats, and all the while we are losing brothers and sisters, largely drawn/exploited ftom the poor and less educated areas of our allied forces.
