Employers and steroid tests

Can an employer legally drug test you if they suspect you using steroids. I'm gonna do a bulking cycle and if I blow up overnight I'm wondering if they will "suspect" steroids. Company policy states that he or she who uses any substances ON the job shall be terminated. It says nothing about OFF the job. But other than that what about other employers does it come down to individual employer or is there a general law that they need proof ex. if someone comes to work smelling like weed or if a bottle of test falls out of your backpack at work lol. Any experience?

I would think they would be more interested in rec drugs that might impair your ability to do your job
