I'm not saying there aren't. What I am saying is that you have a certain parental right to discipline your child as you see fit. What if he put soap in his mouth? A caustic chemical? According to most statutes that could be interpreted as assault. But is it really? A parent needs to go to prison for this, and his life essentially over?

Additionally, its not like this came out yesterday. This is the second grand jury. Peterson has testified at both for over an hour of testimony answering each question and not hiding a single fact of the incident. The first grand jury refused to indict him...so I guess if you can't find charge, you just form another grand jury and stack it this time until you get what you're looking for? It's been an ongoing investigation for months, and it seems a little bit like a witch hunt to me.

INTENT goes a long way in a situation like this. Are the injuries excessive? In my opinion, yes-for a four year old. Are they something you would charge a father for if it's specifically and only related to discipline? I don't think so.

Education, some parenting classes maybe. The whole thing smells like trumped up media bullshit with TMZ leading the charge as usual.

I don't like his "haha, guess I went a little too hard on that one" attitude, but I also dislike the fact that we're rehashing something YET AGAIN, from May. But that is a price you seem to pay when you live in the spotlight, whether that's good or bad. :dunno:

Regarding Ray Rice, there is a female fan being mocked in the media right now for a comment she made. "If you hit a man you should expect to be hit back by a man". Now if a man should hit back is a whole other conversation. Her comment thoughsis one of the most rational ones made. If you hit anyone you should expect to get hit back. Being a woman doesn't give a women the right to hit a man simply because you don't expect him to hit you back.

We just had this argument at the hospital as well. Had she hit him and he stepped back, she should most certainly be the one charged with domestic violence. However, just because she hit him does not give him the right to haul off and slug her with all his might. He knew that just wasn't going to end well, period. So in other words, if someone hits you, you should walk away....lol.

Well it does give him the right if he did it right away. How hard is irrelevant in self defense. Again whether he should is a completely separate topic.
