Republican Congressmembers Urge Military Officers To Rebel Against Obama

Lawmakers want officers to resign “in a blaze of glory” in opposition to White House’s middle east policy.

Republican members of Congress are urging military officers to rebel against the Obama administration’s middle eastern foreign policy by resigning “in a blaze of glory,” according to U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn of Colorado.

During a liberty group forum on Wednesday night in the basement of a Colorado Springs bar, Lamborn, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, answered a question from a member of the audience who urged members of Congress to “support the troops” in the absence of leadership from the White House.

According to Cory Hutchins, who attended the meeting, Lamborn responded by remarking, ““You know what, I can’t add anything to that, but do let me reassure you on this. A lot of us are talking to the generals behind the scenes, saying, ‘Hey, if you disagree with the policy that the White House has given you, let’s have a resignation.’”

“‘You know, let’s have a pubic resignation, and state your protest, and go out in a blaze of glory,’” Lamborn added . “And I haven’t seen that very much, in fact I haven’t seen that at all in years.”

The Pentagon failed to respond to Hutchins’ request for a comment, but Democrat Irv Halter, a retired Air Force major general who is running against Lamborn, accused Lamborn of politicizing the military.

“Our elected officials should not be encouraging our military leaders to resign when they have a disagreement over policy,” Halter said in a statement. “Someone who serves on the House Armed Services Committee should know better.”

The notion that Lamborn and other members of Congress are urging military leaders to resign amidst yet another bombing campaign in the middle east is extremely noteworthy given suggestions that ground troops may ultimately be deployed in Syria and Iraq to target ISIS militants.

Rumors of rancor were rife amongst members of the military in opposition to Obama’s derailed plan to attack Syria last year, with many taking to Twitter to express their discontent at the White House’s policy of arming jihadist militants throughout the region.

When both active duty and retired soldiers began posting images on Twitter under the #IdidntJoin hashtag to signal their opposition to fighting on the same side as Al-Qaeda terrorists in order to topple the Assad government in Syria, many quarters of the media attempted to claim that the images were fake or the work of pro-Assad hackers, despite numerous indications to suggest that the pictures were indeed genuine.

The invasion of Iraq, on the other hand, was perfectly reasonable, and anybody who questioned their commander in chief, either civilian or military, were either traitors or cowards or both.

Don't know you,nor you I,but I can say that anyone that has and is fighting over there for a countries political bullshit and getting maimed and killed over is and forgotten about afterwards is not a traitor or coward and its disgraceful to say it! Ive been there and am one of the blessed to come home alive and with all my limbs.Unfortunately I know many brothers and sisters that were not so lucky and have in fact had them die in my arms and others come home missing limbs!! Those honorable men and women are not cowards!!!!

Whats also a disgrace is once these battle veterans come home they have been waiting for yrs to get benefits that they EARNED IN BATTLE!!!

Politicians turning their backs on the people that allow you to walk.breeze and sleep in a free country are the cowards and traitors!!!!

Please don't talk shit unless you've been there sir. This movement is with ACTIVE soldiers protecting your freedoms while our gov't is training funding our enemies!!!

Today's enemy, tomorrows ally...that the way of war since its inception. Valid points about veterans, but the cause and effect of the political machine has spun the way it has for centuries. All a mass resignation would do would be to freely allow the administration to plug every manner of ass hat into the upper echelons of the military imho...I say stand your ground, and make it known what a cluster fuck the current POTUS is.

First of all, thank you for your service. Anyone on this board would know that I have the deepest respect for our soldiers.

That being said, it looks like the sarcasm went right over your head. I'm not talking about the soldiers. I'm talking about the same lawmakers who were tripping over each other endorsing the Iraqi invasion and branding those who were suggesting caution as cowards and traitors.

The whole middle eastern misadventure embarked upon by our illustrious 43rd president was a key spark that ignited the powder keg in the middle east. We reap what we sow, and boy, we are reaping a bumper crop.

I respect your first hand experience in combat and I am sorry for your personal losses but your contemptuous dismissal of my opinions because " I haven't been there" is disingenuous, ludicrous and frankly insulting. One can love his county just as much, sir, by standing for the constitution and the principles that the founding fathers envisioned for his country, as by picking up arms on her behalf.

Thats absolutely right. This mess didnt happen overnight nor did it happen with this presidency or last or the one before that. Its been happening for far too long and far too many have fat pockets from it being this way!!

Its also been far too long with their heads in the sand just following along like the sheeple they are believing that the crap were being fed is filet mignon.

Not wanting to believe it does not make it so.

Thanks for the reply and the feedback.Always great to hear from others.
