Computers scanning all our texts, emails, phone calls, etc.. in the "best interest of the people to prevent terrorism". "You must give up your privacy in order for us to protect you." Seriously? Law enforcement and the courts have proven time and time again that they don't care about the 4th. Our rights are violated every day and we the people don't care. Most people have the "if you dont have anything to hide, it doesn't matter" mentality.

I do agree with turbo here. It's pretty clear that the 4th was all but scraped after 9/11. The patriot act is simply code for 'amendment exception'. To say something "is not going to happen because of our amendments" is a bit naive.

On the flip side, the amendments were created in a time much different from our own. The types of dangers that exist today was unthinkable when the amendments were written. It's a bit like modern car laws being based on horse and carriage laws... kinda silly.

I would have to agree...since the GWOT you have a significant encroachment on freedom all done in the name of security. Once you give the government control..historically they are hard pressed to give it back and seek to expand it almost absolutely. Our government is no different regardless of political affiliation or party line...between our current POTUS and our last one, you could argue pretty intelligently that individual rights in our nation have been compromised and lost on an historically unprecedented level.

That shit in Britain is exactly what could happen. And Turbo is correct, that whole mentality that if its not bugging me the government can do it scared the shit out of me here in the good ole USA. The oligarchy grows.....
