Ive never been to the US but I love everything about it. I cant contain my excitement.

Ive only booked and paid for flights from Sydney to Honolulu. So Im going to ask the natives what the best places to go/ hotels to stay in are?

We are going from the 17th to 28th of March 2015.

Also more importantly is there at least one of each of the fast food joints there?

You should've booked your trip to the mainland. You are not going to see that many different thing in Hawaii than what you have in your little island. :D

You can snorkel, which not much better than what you already have. You might be able to get a half way decent meal in one of the resorts and go site seeing.

Fast food? Come on bro.. Get a lonely planet guide to Hawaii and plan your vacation. Also, read up on trip advisor for locations, placed to stay, etc. Honestly, Honolulu is going to be not much different from your Aussie resorts. If I were you, I will take an inter island flight and get to the big island. That's unique and different and you can spend a lot of time exploring the volcanoes. Also Maui.

my mainland trip ill be doing alone. hawaii is more for my mrs than me.

mainland will be starting in cali buying an old harley and going to sturgis then over to NYC. thats what im most excited about.

Hawaii im going to eat at every fast food place i can. Those netflix ads have me fiending.

Bro the volcano's are the first thing Im doing.

This is the stuff I want to hear about I thought Honolulu was the big island. I only paid for the flights an hour ago so plenty of research to do but I want to hear about the awesome stuff.

Ive asked a few people at my work that have gone and all you get is shopping places and resorts. Can get that in banana bender country where redback lurks

No, Honolulu is on Oahu. Volcanoes are on the big island. I don't know how long you ate staying, but I would reserve 3-4 days for volcanoes NP if you can afford to do so.

And trust me, I wouldn't leave the airport in Honolulu if I were you. Oahu has some wonderful things but they should come well after covering the other islands. Get over to Big Island and Maui.

And island food is plentiful and unique. Do not go to fast food joints. And make sure you find some good luaus to go to. Again, tripadvisor is your friend.

Ive got 11 days so will look at accomodation and flights to the other islands. Will most likely need to shop but will push it back for the last few days.

11days is awesome. Trust me - don't try to do too much. I would split it 4 days in big island and 7 in Maui personally, or 5/6. Don't do more than 2 islands max unless you have 3-4 weeks. Maui and Big Islands are the best and most unique.

No tours. Rent a vehicle. Get a good guide book and read up on the internet. The whole point of Hawaii is to take it easy and be on your own schedule, not somebody else's.

Any "fast food" you can get in Hawaii you can also get in the land down under. Mcdonalds and shit like that. Go for the Hawaii experience bro, not the 'american one'. Gotta remember how far from the mainland it really is. It's a bit like going to Bermuda and expecting the 'British Experience'.. There will be similarities because of the history between the 2 but the mainland is very different in terms of culture, food, and a general way of life.
